The 2014 FIFA World Cup So Far....

While there are still many matches left to be played in Brazil, the 2014 FIFA World Cup has been far from a disappointment. With the group stage quickly coming to an end, we have seen more then our fair share of surprises, Exhibit A being the fall of the almighty Spaniards. After years of dominating soccer on a global scale, it seems that Spain has lost their grip as the world's number one. Though they easily secured a 3-0 victory over Australia in their final match, after losing their first two matches (Netherlands 1-5, Chile 0-2) they have officially been eliminated from contention. Elsewhere, no one expected such a highly contested group G. Widely considered the "Group of Death" leading up to the tournament, the United States, Germany, Portugal, and Ghana all remain alive to advance as they enter their final matches at noon eastern time this Thursday (Germany v US, Portugal v Ghana). Brazil on the other hand has cruised on to the next stage as they dominated group play 3-0 and won their group (Group A) for the ninth World Cup in a row. As far as the next stage is concerned we know that Brazil will face Chile on 6/28 and the Netherlands will face Mexico on 6/29. While today's matches will surely clarify the upcoming matches more, as we stand now this is all we know. It is apparent though from how the matches have played out so far, it is nearly impossible to confidently predict who we might see matched up come the knockout stage. 2015: The Year of Air Jordan Remastered

It appears already, just halfway through 2014, that Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand are gearing up for 2015. With a few pictures of planned releases already circulating, it seems that it will be a year full of plenty of heat. And that goes without even accounting for the build up of the potential colorways of the Lebron 12s and KD 7s. That being said though, while many sneakerheads are upset about the apparent price hike that will come along with these hot colorways both new and old, none of them can say that the Jordan Brand did not listen to the complaint from the past few years. They plan on making several improvements to the overall quality of Jordan's such as a higher grade of leather (one of the biggest issues that buyers have had with recent releases). As 2014 goes on, the anticipation for 2015 will continue to build and one can only imagine what Jordan has in store.

Spurs On Top Once Again

The 2014 NBA season has come to an end and the San Antonio Spurs are officially the last team standing. From the first day of the season, or even preseason for that matter, it was no secret that the Spurs were gunning for a rematch of the 2013 Finals where they infamously crumbled in game six and went on to lose the series to the Heat. Last night their season long goal came to fruition as they  dominated the Heat yet again on their way to their 5th franchise championship via a 104 - 87 victory in the 5th and final game of the series. Kawhi Leonard was named series MVP after shooting 61.2% from the field and 57.9% from 3-point range. He was the team's second-leading scorer at 17.8 points per game and third-leading rebounding at 8.0 rebounds per game. Leonard stated after the game “Right now it’s just surreal to me. I had a great group of guys behind me, just pushing me, just wanting me to just be aggressive in the game … "
